Paragita Student Choir of Universitas Indonesia
The Student Choir of Universitas Indonesia PARAGITA was founded on August 29th 1983 based on the recommendation letter of the director of Universitas Indonesia number 085/SK/R/UI/83. Those who formed it, were A.G. Sudibyo (a student at the Faculty of Social and Political Science), Drs. Max Rukmarata (a lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities), and Liliek Sugiarto (trainer). Prof. Dr. Nugroho Notosusanto, the former director of the Universitas Indonesia then named the choir ‘PARAGITA’
Besides holding annual concert, Paragita has collaborated with other choirs and orchestras. Some choirs and orchestras that have performed with PARAGITA are the choir of Oxford University Schola Cantorum of England, Vienna Symphony Orchestra of Austria, Twilite Orchestra, Nusantara Chamber Orchestra, Cisya Kencana Orchestra, Erwin Gutawa Orchestra and so on.
From year to year, Paragita increases its quality by joining some national choir competitions, such as Festival Paduan Suara ITB, Kompetisi Paduan Suara UNPAR, and Kompetisi Paduan Suara DIKTI. Not only the national ones, Paragita also shows its existence on international choir competition which were held in Miltenberg, Germany, Arnhem, Netherlands, Busan, Korea, Gifu Perfecture, Japan, and the last one was Spittal/Drau, Austria.
